About Thornhill

Are Thornhill Range Cookers handmade in Britain?

Yes. Every Thornhill Range Cooker is handmade in Britain.

Parts are cast in Wednesbury, enamelled in Birmingham after being machined and fettled in Canterbury, Kent. Final assembly, finishing and quality-checks take place at our workshop in Canterbury.

We do not hold finished stock. Each cooker is built specifically for its owner, to their chosen specification and colour.

Where are Thornhill range cookers made?

Our workshop is at Unit 1, Sunrise Complex, Canterbury, Kent. This is where every cooker is assembled, finished by hand and inspected before leaving for delivery.

The ironwork is cast in Wednesbury and vitreous enamelled in Birmingham before arriving in Canterbury for final assembly and quality-checking.

How long has Thornhill been making range cookers?

Founded over 30 years ago by engineer and MD, Graham Thornhill CEng, we have become one of the leading specialists in traditional range cookers. Built on craftsmanship, heritage, and attention to detail, every range cooker we manufacture is more than just an appliance – it’s a testament to centuries of culinary tradition and innovation.

Our passion is providing the perfect blend of classic design with modern performance.

How long will a Thornhill range cooker last?

A well-maintained Thornhill range cooker is built to last for many decades. Cast-iron is one of the most durable materials in domestic use, and our cookers are designed to be repaired and serviced rather than replaced.

We have customers still using Thornhill range cookers that are more than twenty years old. The combination of quality British ironwork, vitreous enamel finish and straightforward engineering means that with routine care, a Thornhill will serve a household for a generation or more.

How many Thornhill range cookers have been installed?

We have built and delivered over 800 Thornhill range cookers worldwide. We currently ship to customers across Europe (including France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Poland), Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and beyond.

Can I customise the colour of my Thornhill range cooker?

Yes. Thornhill range cookers are available in over 45 vitreous enamel colours – one of the widest choices offered by any range cooker manufacturer.

Lids are available in matching colour, colour with chrome, plain black, or black and chrome. Because every cooker is built to order, your chosen colour is applied specifically to your cooker before it leaves our Canterbury workshop.

View the full colour range on our Colours page.

Can I request a brochure?

Yes. Our full-colour brochure covers our range of models, fuel options, colour choices and key features in detail.

Request your complimentary copy from our homepage – it is posted directly from our Canterbury workshop.

Can I speak to an existing Thornhill owner before I buy?

Yes – and many prospective customers find this the most valuable step of all.

We maintain a network of existing customers across the UK and further afield who have kindly agreed to welcome visitors. You can see a Thornhill working in a real home, ask the owner how they find it day-to-day, and get an honest picture of what living with one is really like.
